The band was formed from Lele’s idea
back in 1998, when he decided to write his own music to express
the emotions he was feeling during some nights spent in the
woods. Lele shaped his original idea into a musical project
called Lunapiena.
After a three-year period, in which he wrote almost thirty
songs, he left the power metal band “Soultakers”,
where he was the bassist. Lele began to search for members
to realize what in those years was only an idea. In few months
he got a complete line up but suddenly, the different thoughts
of the single components prevented the band to reach any aim
so, after 8 months together the band went loose.
However, Lele decided to continue further. With his sister
Elisabetta at the vocals, an old school friend at the bass,
and a session man at the drums, Lele began to plan the recording
of “Illusions in Bloom”, a three-song promo-cd
aimed to get a discographical contract. Their ambition grew,
so they translated the original italian lyrics in English
to involve the not-Italian discographical labels too. “Illusions
in Bloom” was born in April 2002 and after the recording
the band changed its name from “Lunapiena” to
“Lunae”.
Zama, the bassist who helped the band in the recording sessions,
was struck by the originality of the sound and decided to
become an official member of the band. Nonetheless, in the
months following the recording the band remained inactive
due to the lack of a drummer. The search ended when Lele saw
Stefano playing in a club. Lele felt that Stefano was “the
perfect drummer” he was searching for, due to his style
and skillfulness. So the band began to rehearse again eventhough
it was two members short. Luckily, after a month when Lele
met Tania, a very skilled flutist who was in search herself
of a rock band to play with, she rehearsed and enthusiastically
settled firmly with them. Although, the guitarist was still
missing; it was him that found Lele and the band by responding
to the message published on the internet. He contacted Lele
who immediately realized Simone was the perfect guitarist
for “Lunae”. But after a month Zama left the band,
and Piero, a friend of Simone, took his place.
Now the Line-up is complete, and they are preparing some
new songs, waiting for a discographical Label that will allow
them to record their first full length CD.
